DM Managed Service

For a typical acute trust with multiple sites and systems the budget to replace its PAS can be around £20m. The success of this project will depend on many workstreams and data migration is clearly a critical path activity. Too often however data migration is seen as a low key technical challenge that can be easily solved and a budget of maybe £50k is allocated and a team is resourced from the current information or IT department. By the time the first trial load is due however the complexity of the task is starting to emerge. At this point the target go live date is already unachievable and plans and budgets have to change. This situation can be avoided by working with Avoca who are the market leaders in complex Healthcare data migrations.

Avoca’s core strength is our ability to take on all aspects of a migration project, not just the classic extract, transform and load activities, but also creating the strategy, hosting the hardware and data, and testing the new system with the migrated data. We have provided these services on behalf of system integrators, Fujitsu, BT and CSC as well as working directly for the NHS Trusts. Sites that have gone live using our managed services are:

• Birmingham Woman’s Hospital
• Morecombe Bay University Hospitals
• Bury PCT
• Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust
• Barnet and Chase Farm
• Milton Keynes
• Royal Free
• Surrey
• Mid Hampshire
• Weston Super Mare
• Queen Marys Sidcup

The managed service is delivered by our team of Health Informatics staff using our toolset and processes, all of which have been approved by the NHS and the LSPs. For more information please contact us.
