Avoca deliver high quality SQL Starter Course to Barnsley PCT and NHS Kirklees

Avoca deliver RDMS & SQL Starter Course to Barnsley Primary Care Trust and NHS Kirklees. The RDMS & SQL Starter Course has been specifically designed to help meet the needs of those working with NHS data. The Course combines a balance of theory and practical workshops, with constant support from our in-house SQL Experts. The modules include:

• Theory: What is SQL Server 2008? How do you use it? What is an RDMS?
• Theory: Creating tables from File Definitions
• Workshop: Create a basic A&E Patient Demographic Table
• Theory: Simple queries using filters and restrictions
• Workshop: Analysing Inpatient Data
• Theory: Joining and querying multiple tables
• Workshop: Analysing treatment data relating to Consultants

This course has a real emphasis on NHS data; the workshops simulate NHS data scenarios using dummy NHS data which Avoca has created based on knowledge from previous NHS clients. All of these modules have a tried and tested method of theory followed by practice and feedback; this has shone through with 100% of delegates rating the competence of our SQL Trainer as very good and 100% of delegates rate the content of this course either very good or good.

This course aims to give delegates a helping hand at understanding the fundamentals of RDMS & SQL, and was a ‘confidence builder whilst using SQL’ in the workplace and ‘encourages the delegates to build queries and play around with SQL’. The overall outcome of the course is to improve the skills which are essential for analysing NHS data using Microsoft SQL Server.

Delegates commended the relaxed atmosphere, how well balanced the course was and that it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. Even though the course has been completed our SQL Experts are still on-hand, to offer assistance and advice over the phone to the delegates if they become baffled by any SQL queries when they are back in the workplace.
