3 Day Data Standards Course
We have all heard the phrase, ‘rubbish in, rubbish out’: the importance of data standards in the NHS is paramount. A small difference like a transposed date format may leave a patient recorded as ten years too young and prevent them being registered for a cervical screening programme at the right time.
The NHS Data Standards training covers the introduction to NHS data standards and coding schemes, the importance of data quality within the NHS, and how data standards and quality are everybody’s responsibility. The course includes:
• Security and Confidentiality
• Introduction to NHS Data Model and Dictionary
• Organisation Data Service
• Clinical Coding
• NHS Data Standards
3 Day Data Sets Course
The NHS Data Sets training introduces the different care settings where providers deliver treatment. The care setting a patient is seen in can depend on the treatment they require. The training provides an insight into what each care setting is and how they differ.
The training explores what actually happens during patient care, and what key data items and information are recorded along the way. Delegates will get a clear understanding of the information available to use for both primary and secondary purposes. The course includes:
• Demographics
• Admitted Patient Care
• Outpatients
• Choose and Book
• Elective Admissions List
• Accident and Emergency
• Mental Health
• Child Health
2 Day Commissioning Course
The NHS Commissioning Course introduces the work area of Commissioning in the NHS. It provides an understanding of the full cycle from the patient being seen in the provider, to how the data is then used and fed back into the Commissioning process. It aims to give an insight into how the information and money flows through the NHS. The course includes:
• What is Commissioning
• Why it is important to the NHS
• Secondary Uses Service
• Clinical Coding
• Healthcare Resource Groups
• Payment by Results
2 Day NHS Data Model and Dictionary Course
The NHS Data Model and Dictionary course aims to equip the delegate with the knowledge and skill to use the NHS Data Model and Dictionary (NHS DM&D) to achieve consistent, high quality data. The delegate will learn who is responsible for the national implementation of data standards, and learn to use the NHS DM&D to resolve data definition problems they may encounter in their working environment. The course includes:
• Governing Bodies, Organisation and Departments used to maintain Data Standards in the NHS
• The need for Data Standards and Data Quality
• Navigation through the NHS Data Dictionary
• Construct and Read a Data Model
• Using NHS Data Dictionary to resolve data definition queries
2 Day Reporting & Measurement in the NHS Course
Current government strategy places a large emphasis on the use of information within the NHS to improve patient services despite reduced budgets. This course introduces the measurements and reports that NHS organisations produce, explains how the data is transmitted, shared and used, and covers data standards required in reporting. The course includes:
• Healthcare Measurement in the NHS
• Secondary Uses Service
• Introduction to NHS Data Model and Dictionary
• Clinical Coding
• 18 Week Referral to Treat Target
