post or e-mail the form to you. Remember to complete all
areas as fully as possible and check for accuracy before
sending. Remember our first impression of you is gained from
the information you include on this form.
Ensure that you read the person specification for the vacancy
before completing your personal statement and remember to
give details from your experience (work, education or
personal) that help you demonstrate your aptitude to us. To
stand out from the crowd you should use the opportunity in
your personal statement to refer to reasons why you feel you
would be the best candidate for the position, why you want to
work for us and why you are interested in working in our
sector.
If you are not local to us, please also use the space
provided to explain your plans for relocation / mobility.
Telephone Assessment
If your application is shortlisted, you will be invited to
participate in a telephone assessment. The assessor will
contact you at a pre-arranged time to further assess your
skills and aptitudes for the criteria detailed in our person
specification for the role. Please ensure you prepare fully
for the interview. You will also be given the opportunity to
ask the assessor any questions you may have about the company
and the position.
Assessment Centre
An assessment centre is a face-to-face event where candidates
complete a range of exercises which simulate job activities.
This gives us a chance to get a real insight into your
individual strengths and areas for potential development. But
remember - this is a two-way interaction, so use this as an
opportunity to find out more about us and whether we are
right for you.
At our assessment centre, you will have to complete a number
of exercises, including:
Group Exercise
- these are used to assess your communication and creative or
logical thinking skills in action, and to ascertain how
effectively you work in a team environment.
Interview - your interview will
take place with a small group of assessors selected from
different areas of our dedicated team. You will be given a
presentation topic in advance and will be asked to deliver
this at the beginning of your interview. Make sure you know
your topic well as the assessors will want to ask you
questions about your presentation.
In-Tray exercise - these are
simulated work based activities which test your ability to
think logically, make decisions and work quickly but
accurately.
Report Writing - these are to test
your analytical skills, written communication, ability to
work quickly but accurately and attention to detail.
Numerical Reasoning test - in this
test you will be using facts and figures presented in various
statistical tables to answer questions, designed to assess
your ability to evaluate numerical data.
Verbal Reasoning test - this test
is designed to find out how well you are able to evaluate the
logic of various kinds of arguments.
Assessing us - we also include an
informal breakfast meeting with our current trainees &
graduates of our training academy where candidates can ask
questions and gain a valuable insight into what life is like
at Avoca. We also deliver a comprehensive presentation
regarding the work of Avoca and our Training Academy.
Feedback
We are happy to provide feedback from our assessment process
on request to candidates whether successful or unsuccessful
in their application. Successful candidates will be given
feedback when they commence employment and this feedback
forms the basis of the first set of individual performance
objectives.
