Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When is the deadline for applications for Trainee Data Analyst vacancies?
There are a limited number of vacancies each year and we fill these periodically (usually May – September) so it's advisable to apply at the earliest opportunity. Once we have met our requirements, we will close the vacancies to applications.

Q. What will make my application stand out?
We are looking for individuals with aptitude for our specialist area of work, the ability to work effectively as a team member to project deadlines and for whom the commitment to producing quality work is critical to success. So tell us how and why you fulfil these criteria. Make sure you talk about any work, education or personal experience you've had which relates specifically to our requirements. We want you to prove to us that you have what it takes to succeed in our specialist environment. What's more, we're looking for people with a real passion for our organisation and the ability to clearly articulate why you're attracted to working for us.
To be considered, you must have achieved a good level of secondary or tertiary education and / or have sufficient work experience (not necessarily in health informatics) although this alone isn't enough - we're also looking for the characteristics described above.

Q. What is the application process?
The stages you will go through are:
• Complete & submit application form
• Telephone-based assessment
• Complete on-line personality profiling exercise
• Final stage assessment centre
If your application is successful, you'll be invited to attend an assessment centre. The day is taken up with ability tests, a group exercise, in-tray exercise, report writing and panel interview (including a presentation). But make sure you assess us while we assess you.

Q. What if I don't have a degree or a great academic record?
Our Trainee Data Analyst vacancies have traditionally been filled by university graduates and this remains an excellent selection pool of talent for us. However, we are now widening our search for exceptional candidates beyond this and would encourage applications from those who did not go on to tertiary education or consider themselves to be ‘qualified by experience’ through their employment history or vocationally related qualifications. In addition to the Trainee Data Analyst posts, please check back regularly for specialist or technical vacancies too.

Q. Where are your employees based?
All of our opportunities require full UK mobility to ensure that we can provide quality of face to face service with our clients nationwide. However, our Head Office is located in Chesterfield, Derbyshire and this is where the majority of our project work and training workshops are carried out.

Q. What happens when I graduate the Avoca Training Academy?

The development and support offered throughout our internal training scheme will ensure you have a strong foundation to progress throughout the organisation.
